According to former Terre Haute historian Mike McCormick, Terre Haute was nicknamed Sin City in a 1955 Stag magazine article. According to KLAS-TV, Las Vegas was first nicknamed Sin City in 1963 in a book titled "Las Vegas, City of Sin?”.
